Version 3.0
The life, thoughts and work.
On the back porch.
11:25 PM / 30 May 2009
At the Farnsworth's house in Anacortes- on the back porch, chatting about our quickly upcoming big Europe trip.
On the road. Again.
11:25 PM / 30 May 2009
On the road up to Anacortes for the weekend. Ashley almost always takes a snooze between Ellensburg and North Bend.
Tyler takes the ink like a champ!
10:30 PM / 28 May 2009
After 4 years, we finally got our brass knuckles company tattoos! Tyler got his ink on his right shoulder, and I got mine on the back of my left arm. Justin at
Mutiny Tattoo drew up the design from a horrible little sticky note sketch of mine.
Day-trip to Waitsburg
12:30 AM / 24 May 2009
Took the quick trip over to Waitsburg to hit up jimgermanbar, a classy watering hole. Jim's was booked for the night, but we managed to grab a table for a drink and some delicious bruscetta. After leaving the jgb, we decided to take a jaunt around to enjoy the sunny evening. A tiny place called the Public House caught our eye, so we stepped in for beer and pizza. It turned out that we shared the evening/venue with the local high school's 50th reunion crowd. Overall it ended up being a pretty decent night.
Farmer's Market
11:28 PM / 16 May 2009
Started off the day at the Walla Walla Farmer's Market. Had a lovely time. Scones, sopas, strong coffee, and good company. Thanks to Nikki for taking the third photo.
Day at the park
12:48 AM / 05 May 2009
Spent the day with good friends. Had to try out my new 50mm lense. I probably took WAY too many pictures.
Kinetic typography experiment
02:00 AM / 19 December 2008
My very foray into the wide world of Adobe's AfterEffects. It's crazy out there.
Adventist Health AdvanceMD Program info packet
June 2008
This information packet piece was created to send to medical residents to entice them to join a new program offered by a group of 18 West Coast hospitals.
The initial concept was to use a packet with a green interior and sliding cards of locations in front of the green inside the packet to simulate a cinematic "green screen" to show the variety of place a resident could go.
Somehow, after a few too many concepts and rounds of revisions, this keystone piece was born.
Along with this piece, there was a direct mailer, a sent of large banners, and an interactive website.

McDonald Zaring Insurance "brochure"
June 2008
We really wanted to do something different for this piece. The client needed a slightly innovative way to not only present their information and services but stand out in a stack of tri-fold brochures as well. Our answer was to create a die-cut flip up card. We used a combination of vintage textures and traditional Walla Walla Valley landscapes to create a look of importance and solidarity. The headline reads, "We are not an insurance company."
Disciples World features/cover package design and magazine layout
May 2008 - Present
Series of cover and feature layout and design for a religious news monthly magazine put out by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
A house is not a home.
11:13 PM / 20 November 2008
With the housing market at an all time low, it has become almost impossible to purchase a house or to even stay in the one that you already have. Because of the recent market crash and high gas prices, there has been a slight reversal of the post-WW2 trend of moving to the suburbs. Just prior to this crash, there was a large summer influx of new suburban home. These homes now stand mostly vacant, and will remain vacant, until the economy rebounds.
I documented these occupant-less homes. I feel that true lonliness and isolation is depicted by these homes.
The view from above: A walk-umentary.
00:00 AM / 00 November 2008
Shoe-gazing, aimless wandering, the occasional tree branch to the face. The things one must live through for art.
A small (2x3.5 inch) book of a selection of photos from a photolog entitled, "The view from above."
Orcis Clothing business card
June 2008 - Present
I own half of a silk screen printing company. These are our second business cards and are a continuation of the graffiti theme that was already in place. The "typeface" was created with letter stencils sprayed with black paint on a white board. These letters were scanned in and digitally manipulated.
A brief story; in photos
10:04 AM / 13 November 2008
Is she lost? ... Looking for something? ... Someone? Is she hungry? We may never know. Thank you to Sara-Leina for accompanying me on my haphazard journey.
Images taken in a series to tell a story. Story coming soon.
Alan + Ashley wedding thank-you note
03:00 PM / 17 August 2008
When we were in Vegas for our honeymoon, I purchased a cheep fish-eye camera from Urban Outfitters (which was just across the street from our hotel). We pretty much just walked around the whole afternoon/evening taking pictures. I took one of the images, scanned in the negative, and digitally processed them to create our thank-you notes. The design follows the style of all of our wedding identity. (Yeah, that's right, our wedding had a complete identity package.)
Alan + Ashley wedding invite
08:40 PM / 06 June 2008
Our photos were taken by
Ben Blood.
Initially, we had the idea to use a photobooth strip as a wedding invite. Shortly after we came up with this (seemingly brilliant) idea, we went to the Seattle wedding show where we quickly found out that our idea was not original what-so-ever. So, we took our idea, turned it sideways, and used some wonderful photographs that Ben Blood took of us against what used to be the sunny yellow wall of Walla Walla's Studio Opal.

ASWSU Crimson & Gray Ball
04 April 2008
The Crimson & Gray Ball is a end of the year event put on by the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities. The color scheme was chosen because of its significance with the school. I chose to use a bold serif combined with the floral details to depict importance and class.
ASWSU/Tri-City Fever football game
01:00 PM / 17 March 2008
Created for a pre-game event held by the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities. The gritty effect for the headline was created by overlaying about twenty translucent layers of different textures.
Designed while sitting on the front porch of our vacation rental on lovely Balboa Island.
ASWSU finals week student aid
